Vedauwoo is an Arapaho word meaning “earthborn spirit”. This mysterious place sits on the high plains of south eastern Wyoming, an oasis of granite domes rounded by severe weather and split with cracks of all sizes. This surreal rocky landscape located in Medicine Bow National Forest features Precambrian granite formations surrounded by clusters of ponderosa pine and aspen trees. Countless boulders scattered throughout the area offer face climbing on textured granite interspersed with feldspar crystals. If you can master these cracks, you can handle just about any crack!
On a clear day, views of the Continental Divide and the Diamond on Longs Peak can be seen from the top of some crags. The serene grass covered plains surrounding the rocks are home to elk, deer, antelope, beavers, coyotes, golden eagles, hawks, cattle, and cowboys.
